Taken from old timbers found primarily in barns along the Ohio River Valley, our Antique Oak flooring has an extremely fine and figured grain structure, referred to as "tigering." This handsome Oak wood radiates warm and "nutty" English brown tones, giving each Antique Oak floor a distinguished Old World look. You can almost feel the events witnessed by this Antique Oak. It exhibits rift grain, occasional knots and nail holes, while retaining the rigid strength of new oak.

Because the timbers used in the original buildings were cut from both Red Oak and White Oak timber, the boards in this floor will naturally contain color variations ranging from warm browns to occasional reddish undertones. The variations in color create a dramatic effect as shown in these photos- however, this floor can be graded for either all Red Oak or all White Oak. In either case, you will still see the same degree of rustic character indicative of recycled wood, such as checking, nail holes, color variation and saw kerf marks.

Carlisle's Antique Oak is a nutty brown in color with occasional knots and nail holes.
